Nate's 2nd Birthday ...

We celebrated Nate's 2nd birthday on Saturday.

Naturally, when you're 2, you don't expect to have a lot of friends, so we invited one kid, Oliver, who's been in day care together with Nate since they were 3 months old. Oliver and Nate tend to have a special bond. They were both due on the same week in December but both decided to head out early (no punn intended) and were early at the same time. 3 days apart. So he came. Last year, when we had a party, the two boys didn't even acknowledge each other's existance but this time round, they were playing with only EACH OTHER. Oliver now has a little 2month old sister. She wasn't really into the whole pinata or sparkler thing but was a very calm baby sitting down watching a bunch of 30somethings run around like mad children.
Speaking of a bunch of them... they're these people i go cycling swimming and running with. That's the thing about them. They brought life to the party, along with a lot of screaming and laughter. Exactly what i needed to be assured that this was indeed a party. Such joy. So all in all there were a lot of people, Nate knew 3/4 of them and by now the house was rocking.

Cake.
oh yes.
I hadn't put in too much effort into getting the cake last year, in fact i ordered the cake like a day before the party. This year, i was lucky to meet up with June, at her son's (another 2year old pary) and got a contact from her. Thanks June... The cake was a very HAPPY cake. Everyone was happy. I was even happier.

I'm glad everyone came and had fun. There's something true about the joys of birthday parties and never really losing the kid in all of us. Thank you all for loving nate so much and being apart of our family adventures this past 2 years. We are truly Blessed.

Just popped by and saw this. You must have put in a lot of effort for the party. Anyhow, do you mind sharing the contact for the cake?
