Happy half a birthday to Nate who turned 6 months on the 19th of May. (pardon my tardiness - for not ever making it on the 19th of each month but if you noticed the trend, i'm always a couple of days late in blogging.) I figured it'll be alright because it's not like Nate's going to be able to read this later, when he wakes up from his afternoon nap. So actually, i could rightfully pen this down 5 years later, and still be on time. Children are so forgiving whether they like it or not! Yay. So the 6th month flew by already and it took me 6 months to realise how time really really flies. I mean, i knew that for a fact, but when you have a baby, in front of you everyday, it really shows. It's like having a human ticker in front of you.

nate 2 days old
I ask myself why i'm doing this. Writing down notes every month (for the first year - i hope - on time), taking pictures, making a big deal of what's happening to Nate. Its' not because its "the first child" syndrome but I think it'll be very cool for nate to grow up and be able to see what he was like as a baby. What clothes I made him wear, (so he can hate me for it), the kinds of food he like to eat, the people that were involved in this growing up as a little person. I for one have no recollection of my life as a baby, I think my earliest childhood memory was from the age of 4, wait, 5... see, i can't remember. It makes the circle complete. It gives us some idea of how we were brought up, and how we've changed. maybe its partly cause i'm sentimentle.
So this month was pretty interesting, well, more than last month.

We started Nate on solids, and i think he's a pretty slow eater. He likes his Heinz Rice Cereal, but we're still on just a teaspoon of that mixed with EBM and have been like that for the past 3.5 weeks. i've introduced pureed apple (which seems to be ok) with Nate but depending on his mood. He seems to HATE bottled foods but i think we can't come to any conclusions yet because Nate wasn't feeling all that flash this month. Its very fun making baby food. I love it and i can't wait for his menu and eating capabilities to increase. We've been on the nabuliser for 3 weeks now. That's a long time and i'm glad we bought our own nabulising unit. Things are just starting to get better now. So hopefully after these last 5 days, we'll be off it for a while. We've even had to postpone his immunization jabs for another month cause he's not well enough to be jabbed. Defeats the purpose.
Nate's not able to sit up yet but that's ok. His back muscles are not co-ordinated yet. Come on people!!! team work! team work!.
Nate's started to laugh a lot more than before. And he's really good at recognising faces. Especially his grandma's face. She LOOOVES nate soo much and is the only one despite her age to be able to carry himfor hours without a sling etc.. Even I, (ms sportsgirl of the year '95) can't last for half an hour. What a has-been. Loser. Speaking of grandparents, i must say that this whole grandparenting thing - can't live without it. They're great help and so loving - unconditionally. nate! you're a dam lucky boy. you better studyhard and take care of them.
The finger sucking has seem to be less intense and i think this is due mainly to the fact that he gets distracted by toys. Thank God for toys.
He's even started to vocalise himself. Asking with one syllabic noise, if he wants a certain toy or person. Interesting. very. Character's starting to show. But i'm a little worried because this one's got a temper. Seems to be a terror-in-the-making. He knows how to bully people into giving him what he wants. The only thing that can calm him down, is a BATH. he lovesss water. Yes you do nate. And the happiest i've ever seen him, is in the bath tub. Sometimes he stays in there til he gets all pruny.
Fats have come and gone. The peanut has elongated. I'm not kidding. He used to be round and chubby, now, his legs have lengthened, and face has grown longer. Everything has grown in the north-south direction except for his hair. The lanky thing must come from his dad, who loves him so much and is really missing him because he's overseas on assignments. But there's always another day and another year. So let's see what next month brings. Praise God.
