notes #09 super delayed

nate's almost 10 months old now that i'm finally finding the time to pen down some notes on the bugger during his 9th month out of the womb.
Better in than out they say.
Much truth to that sentence as i found myself struggling with the nate this whole month. He threw tantrums and it was not even funny. Probably got my genes and is very short tempered. He challenges me when i am firm with him and he has to get his way. Two stubborn people = a very noisy household.
I did fall into sporadic moments of dilemma where i wanted to be firm and not react to his crying and wailing but at the same time i question if i'm overdoing it and making him feel insercure instead. Maybe i'm being the insercure one in this. I'm still seeking the balance but i'm still very firm with him. I guess it gets easier now that he's starting to understand actions and consequences but more shall be said about that in his 10th month notes.
Nate's finally started crawling as well in his 9th month. Finally. And has a total of 6 teeth. 4 on the top and 2 at the bottom. I'm wondering if the crankiness is due to his teething or perhaps the separation anxiety from me while i was away in Indonesia covering football. Perhaps it's both. I guess there's no point in really trying to figure out what it is exactly. Especially over things that you'll prolly never get an answer too anyway. I find that i just gotta go with the flow and before i know it, the phase will be over and a new set of joys as well as struggles will emerge (along with every new tooth) and it's just gonna be too tiring to dwell in every single moment of it. The trick is just to worry less and look ahead and catch up on whatever sleep we can get.
It seems right now my goals in life have narrowed itself to just getting enough sleep. And sleeping before the mid night hour just so i can remain healthy and have enough strength to face the next day.
Nate seems to have an inclination towards music. Though it could very well be too early to tell. However teachers at his infant care tell me he goes all hyper and starts dancing when music is played during their song and movement sessions. He's started using the "busy plastic balls" toys as instruments, knocking them together and shaking his body, singing a mono-tone tune out loud. He does this in school and at home, if he's not insisting on banging on my piano as well. He sings every morning when i take him to school and sings along whenever he hears the "twinkle twinkle little starts" number.
It would be great if he can understand the importance of having music in his life. A beat and a rythym in his head whenever and whatever he does. Apart from enjoying the music i guess being a baby is pretty swell. He has been spending a lot of time with his grandad at the pool, soaking in the sun, swollowing a lot of chlorine and sipping on some cocktails. ( im kidding about the last bit )
