notes # 03

sleepy nate
Let's see.
Every month brings new developments and it makes it seem like a longer phase of time has passed. The things that happen are things in which one doesn't anticipate and you look back and say to yourself, "Wow.. you mean thaat just happened?" And then you realise its serious enough to stand out from normal days to be marked as a 'mile-stone'.

This is nate's third month on the planet and his looks has somewhat remained the same as month 2 except he's put on a lot more fat and has a total of 4 folds in his thigh. In fact i have to be very thourough when drying him after his bath so that we won't have a case of mushrooms growing from the folded regions. Not very pretty. He's getting so dam cute now and is starting to talk alot more. In fact he sometimes talks constantly and it can get irritating (but i'm not complaining).

Nate on this third month, is still fully breast fed but he's starting to confuse me with the amount of milk he drinks. He used to drink 125ml (when drinking from the bottle) and is now fluctuating between 80-125ml at each bottle feed. Maybe its cause i started him on the avent bottles. We used to use Nuk. Maybe he doesn't like the silicon teats.
So many Maybes and we'll never really know what these little people think.

Nate's neck muscles are getting stronger by the day and he loves standing when we support him. He's also started to pose in "superman" styles. Its quite funny.

Everything seems smooth sailing so far.
We're off too take the second round of his immunization jabs later this month and looks like we might have to take one of the jabs earlier because i've started him on infant care. (more on the infant care thing later).

As for physical developments, our baby is starting to realise that he has feet. Now when he's sitting in his bath, or in his bumbo or when sitting on someone's lap, he's always staring at his feet. In fact i think he finds them amusing. He's started batting toys now but hasn't learnt to grip anything.
He's also developed a liking for certain toys. One of which is this bird like fish. I say bird like fish because its a bird that looks like a fish. Confusing but so what. Nate loves it and he spends about a half hour everyday or whenever, talking to it. That toy by the way, is now known as a bish ( bird + fish = bish). Go figure what a fish and duck will give you.

On a more special note, Nate's really got a close relationship with my dad. He and grandad are buddies. They spend most of their time talking and smiling at each other and he is comforted very quickly on grandad's left shoulder. A very special place. And i really treasure that. Especially if you know my dad. A man of few words and often mistaken to be a very very strict man. Actually he is very very strict. I'm still afraid of him. But nate isn't and that's good.
I've gone back to work and the one thing i already miss is hanging out with my buddy Nate. I miss the times when I would ask nate where he felt like going and most of the times I get to make decisions and he's always cool with it. Together we've battled the malls along orchard road and even the crowds in Chinatown. Speaking of sensitive skin, this was the month in which I got really stressed out and one of the things I got stressed about was his Cradle Cap which i refer too as Cradle Crap!
So like always, we thank God each night before we go to bed for His blessings and continue to pray for Nate's salvation and his cradle cap to heal, (haha) and for strength to go on each day even though we feel tired or unworthy to be taking care of this child of God.

Hi... have your tried J&J baby oil on his cradle cap?

Simply apply adequate amount on his head and use a baby comb to gently comb everything out in a few mins later. I do it before bath time so tat I can wash the oil away after that. Repeat procedure next day if u can't finish removing all in one day.

Heard that it have to be remove completely, otherwise it will continue to grow back and it can be smelly as well.

Hi maye-e,
There are a couple of things u can try. Some might work a lil better than others.

I've tried olive oil on my baby's scalp. Just leave it overnight and then wash it off the following day.

Or in a more serious scenario, I've used the Egozite Cradle Cap Lotion. It's really effective with my lil one.

Also, try to avoid using soap when u bathe him... HTH.

Nate drinks **a lot** for a baby his age. Zoe only drinks 80ml at most, with the bottle.

hi jean you know actually i was told that boys and girls differ quite dramatically when it comes to eating amounts. boys a lot more than girls so no fret. But developmental wise, girls faster than boys. so no worries. no wonder its true about the whole girls mature faster than boys thing. Even when comes to bladder control. Girls get it a couple of years faster than the boys.
YAY
WOman power!
